What is Hysteroscopy?

The Laparoscopic Procedure

During laparoscopic ovarian cystectomy:

  • A small incision is made near the navel, and a laparoscope (a thin tube with a camera) is inserted.
  • Additional small incisions are made to introduce surgical instruments.
  • The surgeon carefully removes the cyst while minimizing damage to surrounding tissue.
  • In some cases, the entire ovary may need to be removed.
  • The cyst and surgical instruments are removed through the incisions.
  • The incisions are then closed with stitches or surgical staples.

Recovery After Laparoscopic Ovarian Cystectomy
