Prenatal Screening & Diagnosis: Gaining Peace of Mind During Pregnancy

Pregnancy is a time of immense joy and anticipation. However, it’s natural to have concerns about your baby’s health. Prenatal screening and diagnosis tests offered at Parvathi Hospital can provide valuable information and peace of mind throughout your pregnancy journey.

What is Prenatal Screening & Diagnosis?

Prenatal screening and diagnosis are two distinct approaches to assessing fetal health.

Types of Prenatal Screening & Diagnosis at Parvathi Hospital

Parvathi Hospital offers a comprehensive range of prenatal screening and diagnostic tests, including:

First-Trimester Screening

This combination of blood tests and an ultrasound nuchal translucency scan can assess the risk of Down syndrome and Edwards syndrome.

Second-Trimester Screening

This blood test, also known as the quad screen, measures the levels of certain substances in your blood to estimate the risk of chromosomal abnormalities.

Cell-Free DNA Screening (NIPT)

This advanced blood test analyzes fetal DNA fragments present in your bloodstream to assess the risk of chromosomal abnormalities.

Amniocentesis

A sample of amniotic fluid surrounding the baby is withdrawn for chromosomal analysis.

Chorionic Villus Sampling (CVS)

A small sample of placental tissue is collected for chromosomal analysis.

We Tailor Our Approach to Your Needs

Our team of experienced healthcare professionals will work closely with you to determine the most appropriate screening or diagnostic tests based on your individual risk factors, medical history, and pregnancy preferences. FAQ's

Early detection of potential birth defects allows for informed decision-making regarding your pregnancy and helps prepare for the baby's needs. It can also alleviate anxiety and provide peace of mind for expectant parents.

No, these tests are entirely voluntary. We will discuss the pros and cons of each option and respect your decision.

This doesn't necessarily mean your baby has a birth defect. It simply suggests the need for further testing, such as amniocentesis or CVS, to confirm the diagnosis. Our team will guide you through every step of the process.
