At Parvathi Hospital, we understand the excitement and challenges of expecting multiples. Our team of experienced doctors and sonographers provides specialized care, including comprehensive multiple pregnancy scans, to ensure a healthy pregnancy journey for both mother and babies.

What to Expect During Multiple Pregnancy Scans

You can expect more frequent scans throughout your pregnancy compared to a singleton pregnancy. The specific scan schedule will be determined by your doctor based on the type of multiples and any identified risk factors. Here’s a general overview:

Early pregnancy (first trimester)

Confirmation of multiples and dating the pregnancy.

Mid-trimester (around 18-20 weeks)

Anomaly scan to assess each baby's development for structural abnormalities.

Later pregnancy (usually every 4-6 weeks)

Monitoring fetal growth, well-being, and potential complications.

FAQ's

The frequency of scans will vary depending on your specific situation. Generally, you can expect more frequent scans compared to a singleton pregnancy.

We primarily use standard transabdominal ultrasounds for multiple pregnancies. In some cases, a transvaginal ultrasound may be needed for a clearer picture early in pregnancy.

There's usually no special preparation needed for a multiple pregnancy scan. However, following your doctor's instructions regarding a full bladder for certain scans may be helpful.
